My life around the pool started at a young age with swim lessons in my neighbor's backyard and quickly grew into competition when I joined our local club team. Now growing up, I played any and every sport I could get my hands on. In high school I was a three sport athlete, playing football, baseball, and swam throughout before walking on to the Indiana University Swim Team. My college swimming career was cut short, but I was given the amazing opportunity to start my coaching career young. I started off as a volunteer assistant in the Indiana Athletics weight room and coached football at a local high school as I finished up my last two years of college. This was the moment I fell in love with coaching. I love working with student athletes to help them strive for their goals and dreams.

After graduating from Indiana University, I moved to Indianapolis, Indiana and coached at Carmel Swim Club for 3 and a half years. During my time, I primarily coached with the age group side of the program. It was amazing to be part of multiple individual state champions along with multiple team championships.

My wife and I were presented with new job opportunities taking us to Austin, TX where I continued my career with Nitro Swimming.  While at Nitro I coached multiple levels of abilities, from learning the technical aspects of the four strokes to junior national and Olympic Trial qualifiers.  Most recently, I led our age group program as the Head Age Group Coach. During my 6 and half years, we won multiple State Championships, achieved State Record holders, multiple Texas High School State Champions, 1x Junior National Champion, and numerous Junior National Qualifiers and Zone Qualifiers. It was an honor and a blessing to coach such incredible talent.

My Coaching Philosophy:

  1. Everyday is an opportunity to make it your masterpiece.

  2. Unity: TEAM > ME

  3. Prepare to WIN: ATTITUDE & EFFORT beats TALENT every time!

  4. Focus: 20x Breaths to FOCUS & Get in THE ZONE (Breath, Bounce, Break)

  5. GRIT: Ups & Downs WILL HAPPEN. We prepare for the next swim!

  6. Fearless: Heart of a CHAMPION NEVER GIVES UP

  7. Connection: 100 High 5's a day.

  8. RTP: Remember the PROCESS. The journey is more important than the destination.

  9. 5/V/five: (5% MORE) (VICTORY in your FAITH) (LANE-FIVE ATTITUDE)

In my personal life, I enjoy all things coffee, baseball, and cooking.  My wife Rachel and I have been married for 5 years. We love the outdoors, exploring new places to eat and playing a highly competitive game of Dutch Blitz. We have 2 young boys, Deacon and Jackson, who love exploring nature and playing outside as much as we do.
